Milky! A classic Israeli chocolate and vanilla cream delight (מילקי‎)

The home made chocolate pudding with vanilla whipped cream topping in a glass pot that every Israeli is familiar with!

Usually bought ready made at the supermarkets, Milky is claimed to be the most successful dairy product on the Israeli market since its debut in 1980.

Why not make it fresh at home? It takes all of 10 minutes to prepare from scratch with no artificial additives. I like knowing what goes into my desserts.

Made with fresh cream and chocolate it is every child's favorite sweet.

There is not much to prepare and very few ingredients so here's the list:

Ingredients:

For chocolate pudding:

200 grams semi sweet chocolate chips or chocolate bar

125 milligrams heavy whipping cream

360 milligrams milk. I used almond milk.

2 tablespoons cornflour

For vanilla cream:

250 milligrams heavy whipping cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar (icing sugar)

1 packet vanilla sugar or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

You will need 6 small jars with the capacity for about 200 miligrams

To prepare chocolate pudding:

Sieve the cornflour. In a small - medium pan, put cornflour, heavy whipping cream and milk. Whisk together until well mixed. Heat on stove top on a medium flame or setting, stirring continually until the mixture thickens. Add chocolate and continue whisking until all is blended smoothly and becomes the thickness of pudding.

Scoop evenly into your jars filling them 3/4 from the top.

Let cool and transfer to the refrigerator

Sieve powdered sugar. In a mixer bowl whisk together heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla sugar or extract until all blended together and is thickened to a whipped cream constancy.

Add vanilla cream to a piping bag and pipe on top of chocolate cream.

Keep refrigerated and covered with Saran Wrap until ready to serve. This is so much fun for the kids to help decorate with whipped cream and toppings.

You can add sprinkles, nuts or drizzle chocolate sauce on top if you like or just eat it as it is. Simply delicious!
